Japan Fund for Global Environment

>> Concept
The Japan Fund for Global Environment (JFGE) is funded by investments from the Japanese Government and donations from the private sector. The investment returns (interest) from the fund, along with the subsidy from the government are used to support and promote the environmental conservation activities of nonprofit organizations (NGOs, NPOs) in developing countries and Japan.

JFGE provides financial assistance for environmental conservation programs, such as practical activities, provision of public education, raising awareness and visibility, carried out by NGOs in developing countries and Japan.
  1. Protection, conservation, and restoration of nature
  2. Conservation of forest and afforestation
  3. Desertification control
  4. Environmental conservation of atmosphere, water, and soil
  5. Prevention of global warming
  6. Formation of a recycling-based society
  7. Environmentally sustainable agriculture
  8. Environmental education
  9. Others (organizing of international conferences, construction of international networks, etc.)
>> Support program:
JFGE provides studies, research, information, and personnel training to encourage environmental conservation activities, which are carried out by NGOs in developing countries and Japan.

1.Studies and research:
Implementation of studies and research into common issues, basic problems and solutions, examples of successful projects, the actual conditions etc. of foreign and Japanese NGOs, and the current environmental state in developing countries, which are necessary to develop environmental conservation projects.

2.Development of human resources:
Providing various training programs for NGO staff, volunteers, and general citizens in the framework of a "Global Environment Civil College"

3.Provision of Information:
Providing information to support environmental conservation activities through the Internet, report, newsletter, and other means.
