Research overview
Background & Purpose
To achieve the goals outlined in the Japan’s Act on Promotion of Resource Circulation for Plastics, such as "doubling the volume of plastics reuse by 2030“, we are working on defining requirements and establishing rules for PLA-NETJ (Plastic Networking for Environmental Transformation Japan). This involves examining the development of rules and regulations regarding DPP requirements in Europe, the data formats required for inter-company collaboration within Japan’s plastics industry value chain, and the security and access control related to data utilization.

Goals
- (1) For the Acts promoting recycling of products (particularly automobiles, home appliances, containers, and construction materials), we will gather needs and issues from each product’s value chain. We will then organize the necessary data formats and security requirements for plastics recycling.
- (2) Based on the findings from (1), we will prepare a blueprint for guidelines. A draft of these guidelines will be made public by FY2024 after discussions with stakeholders and small-scale demonstrations.
- (3) Utilizing the small-scale demonstration with MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and a full-scale demonstration of the value chain using PLA-NETJ, we will update the guidelines and formulate a roadmap for social implementation by FY2027.
