Building a data-driven advanced sorting system
Principal Organization
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation
Research and Development Overview
- (1) Development of Electrostatic Separation Equipment
The sampling and sensing devices and other equipment will be modified to enable continuous operation of the electrostatic separation demonstration machine at a mass production scale. - (2) Development of Sensors and Sorting Condition Control Functions
In the electrostatic separation demonstration machine, it will be demonstrated that the purity and recovery rate of plastics can be improved by automatically adjusting sorting conditions using AI in response to fluctuations in material composition ratios. - (3) Development of Information Interaction I/F
Data requirements for linkage with PLA NETJ will be further elaborated, and an advanced sorting system capable of interoperability with external platforms will be developed. - (4) Development of Recycled Materials for “X‑to‑Home‑Appliance” Applications (New Theme)
For recycled materials originating from sources other than home appliances, material modification will be conducted at the laboratory scale in accordance with the performance requirements of home appliance products, and the applicability of the modified materials to home appliance applications will be evaluated.
