Research and Development Overview
In December 2025, a provisional agreement on the proposed End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Regulation was reached by the European Council and the European Parliament. As a result, the automotive industry has begun seriously considering how to adopt the regulations in preparation for their full implementation.
Given that a provisional agreement on the proposed ELV Regulation was reached at the end of 2025, the regulation is expected to come into effect around 2032.
Given the vehicle development cycle and the 2032 implementation date, development must be completed by 2028. Therefore, in fiscal year 2026, efforts to resolve the remaining issues must be intensified.
In this study, we will focus primarily on evaluating lot-to-lot variation in recycled materials and productivity (high-volume trials) in fiscal year 2026. To maintain cost stability, we will continue the efforts to expand material sources initiated in fiscal year 2025.
