Development of Circular Materials Based on Network Polymers with Dynamic Crosslinking Structures:
Social Implementation of a Carbon-Fiber Recycling Circulation System Utilizing Self-Healing Functional Materials

Teijin Limited
Research and Development Overview
In FY2026, building on carbon-fiber recycling technology, the work will center on demonstration trials aimed at social implementation. Through these demonstrations, the technology readiness level will be raised, while a framework will be developed to make the environmental value of recycled materials visible across the entire value chain.
Focus Areas
- Strengthen collaboration with the venous side (collection and recycling).
- Collect CFRP offcuts discharged by manufacturers, extract the carbon fiber, and advance process development toward commercialization.
In addition, for social implementation, a blockchain platform connecting the stages of (1) material manufacturers → (2) processing manufacturers → (3) product manufacturers → (4) disposal/collection operators → (5) recyclers will be utilized to build a mechanism for sharing GHG emissions, emission certificates, traceability information, and digital certificates among stakeholders. This will visualize the environmental value of recycled materials and promote arterial–venous (forward–reverse logistics) collaboration, leading to the social implementation of a circular economy.
