Research and Development Overview
Continuing with the research DX system at the Co-creation Research Institute, we will promote the establishment of fundamental technologies for organic fiber composite recycled PP material and molding process. This year, we will further enhance strength and evaluate recyclability, while also verifying the applicability limits of recycled plastics using fiber composite technology, including lot variability, and mapping applicable parts, thereby evolving it into an advanced recycled material utilization technology. Furthermore, to visualize the effects of fiber composite technology, we will consider SOM (Self-Organizing Map) analysis linked to a recycled material data bank.
Regarding compatibility with the molding process as well as mechanical properties, we will conduct prototyping and evaluation with participating automotive parts manufacturers to improve material fluidity and verify its applicability to automotive parts. We will also evaluate the applicability of this fiber composite material to home appliance parts with participating home appliance manufacturers.
For providing samples for prototyping and evaluation of the above-mentioned parts, we will utilize the verification line introduced in 2025, and the knowledge gained from this will be reflected in the specifications of the 100 kg/h scale process to conduct mass production verification of pellet manufacturing.
Towards social implementation, we aim to verify PLA-NETJ as a use case and build a supply chain that includes stable and safe procurement of raw materials. Looking ahead to further scaling up and mass production, we will also proceed with concrete considerations for open strategies, including collaboration with compounders and licensing.
